RESEARCH: Raspberry Pi Cluster HAT
The Cluster HAT v2.4 kit uses a Raspberry Pi (model 2/3/4) and 4x Raspberry Pi Zero to form a cluster computing environment. The kit is an excellent tool for teaching, testing, or simulating small scale clusters. The inventor of the Cluster HAT is Chris Burton and he also made various useful add-ons for the Raspberry Pi.
The most useful function of the kit is that it allows simple development of a Raspberry Pi cluster without having to run multiple power and communication cables to each devices making it a big mess.
STATUS: Once I receive the kit, I will add updated photos and information about the kit. I hope to port my “Raspberry Pi Zero Cluster Super Computer” project to the Cluster HAT simplifying overall footprint as well as taking advantage of the direct connect versus the slower wi-fi running MPI.
Cluster HAT allows the controller unit (Raspberry Pi 3) to be rebooted without losing power to the attached Raspberry Pi Zeros - this is great as it can mimic my PiZeroCluster which was truly modular.
